I started this painting with the intentions of painting it meticulously and with very fine detail. However, after finishing the underpainting and the tree with the woman, I suddenly found that I couldn't resist the urge to just pound at the canvas with my foilage brush, and then suddenly it was an impressionistic painting.
I don't dislike it, and it was great fun to do. I threw away my references and let it flow, and ceased to care about the detail and the strict lines I was originally going to do. Possibly one of the more fun paintings I've done in a while.
